GIS & Maps
Maps should explain, not just display.
About GISNerd
GISNerd is my personal publishing home for GIS, public data, visualization, workflow systems, and practical AI.
Behind GISNerd
I'm Kevin Mazur, a GIS Administrator / Lead working in local government property data. I have spent more than 25 years working across IT, GIS, land development, real estate, property data, and workflow systems.
Most of my career has lived at the intersection of maps, databases, public information, web tools, and the people who rely on those systems to make decisions.
GISNerd is where I write about that intersection: practical ideas, experiments, lessons, and tools that make spatial information easier to understand and use.
What I write about
Maps should explain, not just display.
Public information is more valuable when it is clear, visual, and accessible.
Parcel data connects land, ownership, valuation, development, and public decision-making.
Good visuals help people see patterns, context, and change faster.
Useful tools reduce friction and support the way people actually work.
AI is most useful when it amplifies judgment, planning, research, and execution.
How I think about the work
